Will AI Generated Art Replace Artists?

Something that has been coming up a lot is AI-generated art. From simple avatars for content creators to elaborate and polished art collections, Artificial Intelligence is a new topic in the art realm, and the concerns it brings up won’t be going away soon. In fact, a lot of these questions have already been brought up in other industries that have been impacted by the growth and development of AI technology. Let’s discuss the loudest and most common of these questions: Will AI take over our jobs?

Will AI Generated Art Replace Artists? While some specific jobs might disappear because of these new technologies, I don’t think that we have anything to fear. There are great discussions happening now about how to protect intellectual property and whether creativity and innovation are being lost because of developments in artificial intelligence. The video was supposed to kill the radio star, but we are out there listening to podcasts – to take an example from the recent past. People with skill, knowledge, and talent in sound production are still in demand, however, there is now a wider variety of tools and applications available. In the past, technology developed at a slower pace that allowed someone to remain in a specific position rather than knowing about an entire trade. Today, technology has reached a point where it will make major changes to industries within our lifetime. Therefore, we need to focus on remaining flexible and adaptable without getting lost in a race behind new developments.

How does all of this apply to the world of art? The first place I heard people talking about this was in reference to profile avatars. There was an uproar that creators would lose business because of this new technology. It’s always concerning when something new threatens the livelihood of people just trying to make ends meet. However, that has been the nature of progress over the last few thousand years. I think a major difference is that the speed of progress and change has accelerated. Now we are required to learn a larger variety of tools in our chosen professions over the course of our lifetimes. On a positive note, the technology gives creators and start-ups access to resources that were previously unavailable to them.

What do you think of AI-generated art?As I explored this topic, I have also seen how it has become an art form all on its own. In order to create something different and unique artists are pouring hours of time into refining the outputs from the programs. Others are using images generated as inspiration to create something entirely new. There is no doubt that these advancements will change the world of art and I am curious about what will happen in the future. Tell me how you feel about the topic. What are your concerns? What are you excited about?

  1. My husband always says “technology is here and part of our lives, whether we want it or not. So the only thing that makes sense to discuss is how to treat it, not whether it’s good or bad” … I kind of like that outlook. I am always more interested in supporting small artists rather than use programs. However I am also shopping on Amazon because it saves me a load of money. Lol . So I feel like it will be like most things, people vote with their money and businesses will have to adapt to new technology in one way or another whether they want to or not to stay in touch with the consumer. That doesn’t mean individual artists will become extinct.

  2. In many ways, A.I. has already replaced jobs, but this always happens. I make use of A.I. regularly, but it cannot replace all fields. While it is brilliant, it still cannot actually ‘think’ organically when it comes to creativity.
